Snow Day...Again!

Well it snowed for the past two days. The wind blew so hard last night I thought I might wake up in Oz. Yesterday was my day to catch up on all the paperwork I have neglected for too long, but tonight I stole away to my stamp room after the boys went to bed.

The first card is this week's Bella Sketch Challenge 86. Unfortunately this is the last sketch challenge. Jamie is retiring to head on to bigger and better things. She will missed. I used a boy stamp finally. Being in a house of boys (including the dog), I just tend to gravitate toward girly things whenever I can, but tonight I went for a boy stamp. I used Miniwagonafella from Stamping Bella.

The next card is from this week's Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 102. I pulled out my Sweet Spring set from Taylored Expression. Easter is only a few weeks away!

Last is the week's Sketch Challenge on SCS. I used the What's Crackin' set from MFT. This is a really cute set with bunnies, chicks, and birdies.

I don't know how much time I will have to post anything over the next week. Our ladies retreat starts on Friday and I have 120 name tags to finish before Thursday. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, huh? I can't wait for a weekend away!

A Triple Challenge

It seems that the Olympics is a big challenge theme this week. Both Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge and Bellarific Friday had to do with the Olympics or winter sports. I used the leftovers from my son's 100 Day project to make this card. I bought some Bazzil glimmer paper to punch out 100 snowflakes for this project and used the leftovers for this card. The stamp is Snowboardabella from Stamping Bella. I must say Snowboard Cross has to be my favorite Olympic event. The glimmer paper is embossed with the Snowflake folder from Cuttlebug. The ribbon was some $1.00 ribbon I picked up at AC Moore a long time ago and it comes in handy for 4th of July and the Olympics. I also used the Sketch Challenge from CPS and that makes three challenges in one card!

Have a great Friday everyone!

A Challenged Tuesday

Now that I am finally recovering from my back problems, I once again have to worry about housework. I have put off vacuuming for quite a while and the dog hair on the floor was beginning to form another dog. But, before I launched into housework, I made a couple cards to share (I put laundry in while I was stamping).

The first card uses Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge from today. I pulled out Queen for a Day from Stamping Bella. This stamp had been sitting on my shelf for a month and I have not used it. Then today, when I actually wanted to use it, I couldn't find it. The paper is scraps from my pile and I have no idea who made them. I got them as a freebie with a stamp order a very long time ago, but they jumped out at me today, so I put them to use.

This next card uses the Mojo Monday sketch from yesterday. I used another Joline stamp from MFT. The balloons are then covered with Crystal Effects. The DP is retired paper from CTMH. I figured this will make a great birthday card for my niece who will turn 10 in July.

Well that's it for today!

PS--I did finally get back to housework. I finally put the rest of the Christmas decorations away. The snowmen stay out for a while after the holidays. Don't know why I bothered putting them away since we are supposed to get more snow on Thursday.

Saturday's Stamping

Today was soccer day for us. Only one week left! Yea! I went downstair for a little peace a quiet after lunch and managed to get two cards done. The first card uses Flower Girl from MFT's Pure Innocence collection. These stamps seem to just fly out of the MFT Store. I used Basic Grey's So Baby Girl collection paper. I wanted this yellow paper for a card I did the other day and searched and searched for it and could not find it. Today it was just sitting their staring at me. Go figure.

For the next card, I used one of the new Joline stamps from MFT. I used the Viva La Verve Week 4 sketch for this one along with my Valentine present Nestabilities. The paper is a mix of retired CTMH and Doodlebug Designs.

Tomorrow is another busy day, so I will probably not be back until Monday.

Friday, February 19, 2010

I finally got around to Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge. I used Pure Innocence Fairy Girl from MFT for my main image. I just love the Pure Innocence stamps. They are so sweet. The design paper is Die Cut with a View's Sweet Stack.

I made another card today too, but did not post it here. Did you ever have one of those cards that you just hate once it is done. That was this card for me. I think I am going to give it another try later if I get a chance. Here's hoping for a better result.

Bellarific Friday 2/19/10

Today is another addition of Bellarific Friday. This week was a color challenge. The colors were peach, light blue, and pink. I broke out one of my favorite stamps from Stamping Bella called Happy Forest. These are just the cutest trees! I used some Bella Blvd. paper as well.

To see more of the Bellarific Friday goodies and to win a gift voucher from Stamping Bella, head on over to Blogabella and leave a comment.

Playing Catch Up

It has been a busy week and I must admit that I have spent more time watching the Olympics than anything else. I did sneak downstairs today to have some peace and quiet only to have my husband and boys follow me. Luckily the boys watched "The Incredibles" and my husband was in the workshop cutting more of his derby car, so I got to get some stamping done.

The first card is from the Mojo Monday sketch this week. I used "Better Get Better" by MFT's Pure Innocence line. The paper is also from MFT.

The second card is this week's sketch challenge on SCS. I used Doctor's Orders from Taylored Expressions along with Doodlebug Designs paper.

This next one is for Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge. So far I have done this challenge two weeks in a row. So I now have two Christmas cards ready for this coming Christmas. I used Basic Grey Figgy Pudding paper and Mrs. Claus from Riley and Company (formerly Hanna Stamps).

This last one is from the Tuesday Morning Sketches. I did very little stamping on this one. I just used the sentiment from Taylored Expressions "A Year of Sweet Sentiments" at the bottom. The paper is a mix of CTMH cardstock (my fave) and Basic Grey Origins.

Well, that's it for today. I am off to watch more Olympics. It's ice skating, which gives me an idea for an ice skating card. I will have to search through my stamps...

Back to School

My boys finally went back to school today after having six days off. They had two snow days last week, which lead into President's Day weekend. It was really noisy here yesterday and I was ready to send them back to school to get some of their energy out.

During the peace and quiet this afternoon, I got a chance to do the Viva La Verve challenge and the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge 100 from Friday.

The first one is the Verve sketch. I used the Up Up and Away set from Verve. The design paper is from Creating Keepsakes. I paper pieced the balloon with polka dot paper.

The second card uses Bakery Business from Taylored Expressions. I pulled out some of the Basic Grey Origins paper because it reminds my of my grandmother's kitchen wallpaper when I was a child.

Well school is almost over and the chaos is about to begin again. I'll be back again soon with some more goodies to share.

Bellarific Friday

It's Friday so that means it is Bellarific Friday. Check out the Bloggabella for all of the goodies the gals have to share. The theme for this week was Valentine's or Lovey Dovey. I broke out my sweet little Headoverheels Huggabug and got to work. I used a mix of different papers that I had left over from other projects. The design for the card comes from the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Another Snow Day

Well we have another snow day today. We got about 7 inches last night before rain and sleet came in this morning. Now it is snowing again and we are supposed to get another 8 to 12 inches maybe more. One good thing about snow is that I was able to sneak away and make a couple cards.

The first one is for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club. The challenge this week was to use the Love Bird set (which I don't have), use Chocolate Kiss Paper or embellishments, make a Valentine, and use one of Kim's three sketches. I used the tree from Tea with Flopsey in place of the tree in Love Birds and added some leaves and flowers. The ribbon is also from MFT and is called royalty ribbon. It is the most beautiful satin ribbon. The sentiment is from MFT's upcoming release called Sentimental about You.

This next card uses Sketch 267 on Splitcoast. I used the new set Bakery Business from Taylored Expressions along with this yummy paper from Doodlebug Designs. The ribbon is from MFT. I added Stickles to the pink icing and Glossy Effects to the top of the pie.

I sure hope the kids are off from school tomorrow too or I will have to find a way to get 48 cupcakes done for their Valentine parties tomorrow. Since we are under a blizzard warning today, I suspect school will be canceled. Hopefully they will decide early instead of waiting until 5am like the usually do.

Bracing for the Next Snow Storm

The Philadelphia area is bracing for round two. After being hit with almost 30 inches of snow on Saturday, another storm is due to arrive tonight with predictions of another 12 to 20 inches of snow. Good thing I have a place to hide out and play tomorrow.

I spent only a few minutes in my playroom today completing Mercy's Sketch Challenge 60. I used Stella Wants a Prezzie from Stamping Bella with DP from Bella BLVD. The numbers are from the Bling Bers set from MFT. I used Bling Bet and Make the Date for the inside which says, "U R Happy 40th Birthday." This card is for my friend, Tammi, who will turn 40 next month.

I will be back tomorrow hopefully with the SCS Sketch Challenge from SCS and the Wednesday Stamp Club from MFT. Stay warm!

Sugar Nellie Challenge

Today I am stamping around the world. The three cards I worked on today were with images from the U.K., Scotland, and Canada. The card below is using Sitting Gorguss Girl from Sugar Nellie. I have had her for ages and she is just now seeing some ink. I used Close to my Heart's Topstitch paper pack.

Well, that's it for today. Have a blessed day!

A Gem of a Challenge and Blog Candy

Pink Gem Designs has kicked off their new challenge blog called A Gem of a Challenge. To celebrate, Pink Gem Designs is giving away six stamps as blog candy. For all of the details and to enter to win, log onto the Pink Gem Blog.

Below is the card that I made for Pink Gem's first challenge. I used Space Jack (because I am a mom of boys). The design paper was digital paper from My Favorite Things. I added different metal accents, because flowers would not make any little boy happy.

I'll be back later with some more goodies to share.

Christmas Card Sunday

As I was browsing Facebook this morning, I came across Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Blog and it got me thinking. I was so overwhelmed with things to do this past December that I did not send out very many Christmas cards. This is highly unusual for me. Sparkle's challenge blog seemed like just the thing to get me ready for next Christmas.

So here is what I came up with for this week. I used Christmas Tree Riley by Riley and Company. The layout for the card is from Card Positioning Systems challenge 153. Sparkle's challenge for this week was to use red and blue on your card, so I used some scraps of paper from Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding line.

Thanks for stopping by. See ya!

Snow Day

My grand plans to spend the day in my stamp room did not actually happen. We woke up to over a foot of snow and it was still coming down. My poor dog (a very large chocolate lab) was afraid to go out in it, so I had to shovel a place for him to go. In the process I strained my already injured back and ended up spending most of the day on the couch. It stinks getting old! I did manage to make two cards tonight though.

The first one was the Verve sketch for this week. I used a digi image from Pure Innocence that I got on Etsy.com. Isn't he sweet! I used the new Nook and Pantry paper from Basic Grey. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

The second one also uses a digi image. This one is from The Greeting Farm. The Farm Fresh Friday challenge this week was a sketch. I used up a bunch of valentine paper from several different companies to make the card. These images are very popular with my adopted nieces. The look just like Edward and Bella. The all screamed when I gave the a sheet to color with each of the Twilight characters on it.

We will see if I get any stamping done tomorrow as we continue to dig out of the 2 feet of snow in our driveway. One thing I do know is that I will NOT be picking up a shovel! Here's hoping you are warm and toasty where you are. Goodnight!

Waiting for the Snow

Well we are about to be hit with another major snow storm tonight. You know what that means...STAMP FEST! I am going to spend the day hiding out in my stamp room. I did manage to spend a couple hours down there today catching up on the challenges I have not had time for this week.

First up is the Sketch Challenge on SCS from Wednesday. I used my new Topstitch paper pack from Close to my Heart. The stamp is Emma Fairy from Paper Makeup Stamps. This is another stamp I have not used in a while. It seems I am on a quest to use all of the neglected stamps in my stamp room.

This next one uses Polar Love from MFT. The sketch for this card comes from the Wednesday Stamp Club challenge in the MFT Forum on SCS. The flower was made using my Martha Stewart flower punch. I inked and layered the flower and used a heart brad in the center.

Last is a card made with Mimi from Pink Gem Designs. I have been using a lot of pink lately with Valentine's Day coming up, so I decided to go for yellow for this card. As I was putting the card together I realized I did not have any purple ribbon to match this card. The Basic Grey paper has little splashes of red distressing on it, so I used some red polka dot ribbon instead. I then decided to color my image to match the rest of the card. In another fit of brain freeze I put the sentiment "I'm gonna love you, rain or shine" on the card. Don't know why!

Well hopefully I will get some uninterrupted stamp time tomorrow when my boys go out to play in the snow. Have a great Friday!

Feeling Better, Sort of

I spent most of the weekend on the couch with a cold and continuing back problems. Physical therapy is helping a little, but the cold weather is not. Plus I ended up with a chest cold and all that coughing did not help my back either. Anyhow, I managed to make it back down to my stamp room to play for a bit today. Since I spent most of the weekend browsing blogs looking at cards and stuff, it was nice to get back down in my room and play awhile.

This first card is from the Mercy's Tuesday Sketch 59. I pulled out an older set from MFT called Owls and Bluebells and paired it up with Basic Grey and DCWV Sweet Stack paper.

This next card uses MFT's Egg Basket Girl. It is one of the Pure Innocence sets that MFT can't seem to keep in stock. I used DP from DCWV's Sweet Stack again. I just love that paper!

This next one also uses an MFT stamp set called Sentimental about Emerson. It was the Triple Scoop bonus stamp last month and will be released tomorrow night from MFT. The design paper is Basic Grey. This was the first sketch from Verve for this month.

Ever have one of those cards that you can't seem to get right? Well that was this one for me. No matter what I did, I just could not get this one straight. I must have pulled it apart three times. Finally I just gave up and left it alone. This stamp is Jeremiah 29:11 from Verve Stamps.

Well, that is it for today. I am going to veg out on the couch and watch Lost tonight. See ya!
